I Have Some Questions...

Q. Who pays for Adult Day Services (ADS)?

You counties AAA has funding source for adults over the age of 60 for those who meet the functional and financial criteria, as does DPW serve adults under 60.   Veterans are also eligible for funding from the VA. If you have long term care insurance check your policy for this benefit. Unfortunately Adult Day Services is not paid for by Medicare or other health insurance. We’ll be happy to work with you on finding funding or arranging for private payment.

Q. What should I look at when I visit ?

Every ADS has it's own look, but some basics to consider . . .

  • Is the physical space clean, comfortable and odor free?
  • Is the staff engaged with participants?
  • What is the participant : staff ratio?
  • Are the clients just sitting, or are there a variety of activities from
    which to choose?

Tours: We invite you to stop in for a tour anytime.  Scheduling in advance will  insure we have set aside the the time to answer all your questions.

Q. What transportation is available?

At ElderWatch Plus we use the SEPTA paratransit system. We can help you complete your CCT application and arrange your rides each week.

Q. Are there additional charges?

Our outside consultants will review your insurance and discuss fees with you prior to starting treatment. Showers will be billed separately if you are paying privately.

Q. Will you take someone: in a wheelchair, incontinent, has special dietary needs, have difficulty communicating?

Yes. Yes. Yes.

  • Many of our participants use wheelchairs and other mobility devices. Our staff will assist with transport, transfers and ambulation in a safe fashion.
  • Our Nutritionist has prepared menus to accommodate most diet restrictions. Pureed meals, chopped meals, low salt meals, and diabetic meals are prepared in addition to the house meals. Personal preferences and allergies are also accommodated.
  • Our staff are trained in a variety of communication methods for a variety of challenges. Nonverbal gestures, prompts, and yes/no questions are some typical alternate ways of communicating. We also ask families to explain how they handle communication at home so that we can be consistent with the participant.

Q. How will I convince my love one to attend?

Your visit ElderWatch Plus should “sell” both you and your love one. Sometimes describing the Center as a “club”, “church group” or volunteer experience is convincing. You are making a good decision for your loved one and yourself. Will discuss approaches at your visit.

Q. How soon can we start?

There is no waiting period. You can begin as soon as the admission’s
process is completed.

The Admission's Process

A phone call or email is all we need to begin the admission process s at ElderWatch Plus. Our number is 215-877-0202 and email elderwatchplus1@aol.com first contact  maybe be as quick as planning a visit time. It can also be an opportunity to discuss your special circumstances and needs, gather information about our program and get information about other available resources.

Everyone,  joining  ElderWatch Plus is required to have a face to face meeting prior to admission. This typically takes about 1 hour.  The Responsible Party meet with the Director and Center Nurse. We will complete some required paperwork, discuss individual care needs and give you a tour of our Center.  During this time the potential participant is introduced in an Activity Group and invited to join in. If you can’t make transportation arrangements to visit we can arrange for the intake to place in your home.

All participants must have a current medical exam and Tuberculosis Test. We will give you these forms at your visit. Once the visit, paperwork, admissions agreement and medical forms are successfully completed, we are ready to begin. The admission process can be completed in as little as 48 hours.
